Lightbulb has anyone actually done this?

i want a turbo for rx badly, and i think i should be able to just add the tt manifold to my N/A motor WITHOUT changing rotor compression, and just run a moderate amount of boost.

i was thinking that since both blocks are essentialy the same it should be very possible to just buy the propper parts .

i would need

turbo manifold with turbos

intake manifold

fuel pump

injectors

boost controller

3 bar MAF

down pipe

turbo oil lines and tap for a pickup in the oil pan

and return line

300z intercooler

ic piping

well thats most of what i think i would need

but high compression cant be the only thing holding this possibillty back ?

i think n/a ecu could still be use with higher fuel pressure and larger injectors it would probably be able to adjust to still add enough fuel, or a piggyback ems could be added

if so this could be done very cheaply

Well first off an N/A motor is a 6 port rotary motor where as a Turbo motor is a 4 port..So right there there are differences..Also..The N/A compression is very high and you could only run 3lbs saftely(guestimating) before you would damage internals..Which of course is not worth it..Trust me many have tried this and found out it is WAYYY to much work...you're better off buying a 13bt.

Yes it has been done many times before, but it is not as easy as you make out. A search will get you many threads on this topic. Some conversions were successful, some were not. For a successful one, search under the name Aaron Cake.

FC's only have one turbo.
intake manifold
As mentioned, the Turbo intake manifold will not bolt to the NA motor. You need to keep the NA intake manifold, but this will clash with the turbo. You need an exhaust manifold spacer so the turbo clears the intake manifold.
injectors
If you upgrade the injectors you will need a fuel controller as a minimum, or you will have no chance of making it run right.
boost controller
Forget about that for now. You should get it runing properly before you try increasing boost.
3 bar MAF
You planning 30psi boost?
300z intercooler
Off a twin-turbo? That's a very small intercooler compared to the stock FC Turbo one. A stock intercooler would be a minimum, so the 300ZX intercooler would be useless.

I did this in my 87 se. Compression of 9.4 i think. i put the complete Turbo II setup and tapped the front cover for a return line.you could do this in a day with a friend and some know how. not that hard. and im relatively new to working or rotaries and turbos in general. with a fuel pump/regulator and minor tuning from a safc II, you can run 8 lbs. safely.
