hard to start.
ok its my project car right now but i plan on it being a dd. back round of car 1987 rx7 se with turbo 2 conversion. alright i had the engine and tranny in another 87 that had a crappy body. so i switched it to this car. i went and got a r tek 1.7 ecu. well b4 the car would flood non stop. would have to turn the fuel pump off till it started then turn it back on. ok now that i have the rtek ecu the car is so hard to start after it sits for a few days. i pump the heck out of it. i have tried holding it to the floor thinking it was flooded but no luck. the more u pump the gas the more it tries to start. once u get it started its fine. fires right up. has good fuel pressure. good spark.
so issue is
engine in other car flooded all the time with stock ecu
engine in this car wont hardly start. takes a while. the plug on the back of the thermostat housing is plugged in. with new rtek ecu
same injectors besides the 720's which shouldnt matter at start up. think compression might be really low? making it hard to start? but as soon as it fires up once there is no trouble after that. even when its hot. fires right up. just tired of having to recharge the battery when it does dead from cranking.

Make sure that pin 3B on the ECU is getting batt voltage when the key is HELD to START. It matters (I blame that on hard starts to blisters on the feet...humor).
Pumping the pedal really does not a whole lot other than let more air in the intake. The RTEK 1.7 has several features, one of which is a deflood feature. To defloog the engine, you just HOLD the pedal to the floor. When you do this the TPS goes full range and the ECU sees this. The ECU then stops pulsing fuel to the primary injectors i.e. defloods the engine as you spin it.
Your car sounds more like a lack of fuel during start. That's why I mention pin 3B.
