happy y-pipe won't come off 87 n/a

so i'm still trying to get this damn y-pipe off so i can put in the driveshaft that's been sitting around for a month or two now. there are two bolts that connect it to the catalytic converter. initially the bolts were stuck, so i blasted them with pb blaster and torched them with a propane torch. i tried a spiral tap, but i still couldn't turn it. finally, i put a 3-ton hydraulic jack under the breaker bar, braced the exhaust system with a block of wood, and used a spiral tap on the bolt. i also torched it before i started jacking. so i jacked and jacked and jacked and the bolt finally moved... but, instead of the bolt coming off the thread, the whole bolt and thread turned as one piece. well, that really pissed me off. how the hell do i get this thing off?

oh, and how is the thread connected to the y-pipe and catalytic converter? i didn't see a bolt on the cat side under the heat shield... i just see a bit of the thread sticking out.

sounds like the easiest thing to do is bust the bolt...
then be in the market for a new cat...

aznpoopy: whoops...

Me: I've talked to a friend about some solutions. One solution was to drill the bolts out and then installing the new exhaust and driveshaft. The second was to just saw the damn bolts off. Since I'm replacing the exhaust anyways the rusted bolts shouldn't matter. I just want to get the old y-pipe off... Do these solutions seem like they might work?
