Question Hanging universal mufflers?

The exhaust shop suggested that I weld hooks to the new mufflers because they have to use the factory hangers. My question is, could not hanger be placed behind the muffler (pipe to muffler)? Or is this how everyone else's universals were done?

The spot on the car that the mufflers hook to are at the very rear of the car, so they would need to be in the middle of the muffler at least. If you put the hooks behind the exhaust, you'd have to find a BIG donut to hold it in place.

Just be careful where exactly you stick it. If it's too far back, the donuts don't hold tight enough and your mufflers drag lower. Too far back, and you can't get the damn things on. Fun, it is.

There are special band clamps you can buy that go around the muffler and incorporate adjustable length hangers.

Just like the ones they use on CF and Ti mufflers since those can't be welded on.

I think I saw them in JEGs catalogue.
