New here with a question!
Hello! I'm relatively new here to the forums and recently bought a 1990 rx7 fc3s n/a! Problem is it came with a broken e-brake (to be honest I didn't even know!) How much is it to replace this and should I bring it to the mazda dealership? Thanks so much! Vehicle is incredible!

First check to see if you have any resistance to pulling the lever, does it feel like its hooked to anything? The other option is it won't move at all. Either way the next step is get under the car and look at the cables, one going to each rear caliper and joining together in the tunnel hooking to the lever through the floor. If the system is intact but not moving the cables are probably rusted so they won't move, replace them or have it done thats probably your problem. If you don't see any cables, buy some from the dealer or go to a junkyard. If the system is totally gone head for the junk yard and get all the parts that look like they fit between the lever and the calipers.
Good luck

Hrmm could be your cable. But just to make sure...did you try and exercise the release button? I had a similar problem last year when I first bought my FC. I thought it was the cable but really the locking ratchet just wasn't greased and therefore didn't engage. A few squirts of wd-40 and some white lithium grease fixed it right up.

The Cause of Death
unscrew the two plastic pieces on the side of the lever, after you take them off you'll see a 10mm(I THINK) nut, try to tighten it, that adjusts your parking brake
first get under and look to see if the cable exists, though
