halfbridge questions

So I'm looking at getting a halfbridge motor built but I've got some questions as to how it'll perform that we can't quite figure out.

I'm planning on running a full EMS since I'm sure the stock ecu would have no idea wtf to do with all that I have done to the car..

I'm wondering mostly...

What's a safe redline (we figured around 8000 - stock S5 TII parts) - are there any simple upgrades to raise the safe limit? I'll probably be goign with an FD OPR but don't know what else to upgrade.

How will it perform at light throttle/low RPM? I'm assuming it'll have a bridgeport idle - but will it perform well putzing around town at 2000-2500RPM? Will I be able to use 5th gear at 50-55mph? (2000-2250rpm)

If tuned properly, how much do these ports affect engine reliability/longevity?

I'm sure fuel milage won't be the best - but it's not really a concern.

I realize that ems/electronic choices/tuning really affect everything but I'm simply talking about how the ports affect things here.

Thanks!

With a nice size turbo, not to big, and a stock heavy flywheel you should be fine for street driving.

And you can get great gas milage with a standalone.. you can really lean out the a/f durring curising rpms/load. Buddy of mine was getting almost 25mpg on his full bridge. You might be able to cruise at 2k in 5th.. but it wouldn't be to smooth.. might be better to cruise in 4th gear.

As for increase redline.. I'm assumming this is boosted. 8k should be fine as most turbos start to die off past 9k You can get harden stat gears, balance the rotating assembly to decrease stress on the bearing.

It should have stock flywheel, it might have a twinplate clutch but I don't think it's any lighter than the stock flywheel/clutch setup.

It's going to have a TD07-25A turbo with a Q-trim turbine.

8K should be lots I think. Nothing really needs to be changed for reliable 8k?

No not really, just get the harden stat gear and get the engine balanced and you should be fine.

I have a mild bridgeport or half bridge in my TII. No problems as a daily driver except the idle can get annoying after awhile and it's not like a full bridgeport aggressive idle. It's more subtle. It works fine in the low rpm range with a TO4E.

The one problem I always had was not enough fuel at the upper rpms. even with 2 550's and 2 720's. So get the Air/fuel gauge and replace the secondaries with 1600's if you are using a stand alone.
