GXL stock locks/alarm systems ?
I have a 1988 GXL with power locks, window, sunroof.
First question, Do I have a stock alarm system?
Second question is: with an after market alarm and keyless entry system, is it possible to wire the key less entry 'brain' without having the door poppers since i've got power locks already?
Third question, I'm looking for the following things in a starter system is there a specific model/brand that is limited to just these items (i don't want a remote start kit):
Starter kill
Keyless entry
Shock sensor
Chirps
Glass break sensor
back up battery source
Another question: What does the back up powersource need to consist of.... How much power is needed?
I'm looking at an avital or hornet alarm system for my car. I'm not aiming to get the "pro car thief" as my car is parked in front of my house 90% of the time (not my daily driver) I just wanna make sure the punk kids in my neighborhood "Look but don't touch". If I hear my alarm go off, I've got the pain generator in the form of a louisville slugger. That's all I need.
I'm pretty decent with wiring and I'm pretty creative with hiding stereo equipment so I think i can probably hide this too.

My 1990 GXL has a factory alarm. To test, roll the windows down, lock it, wait 5 minutes, reach inside to unlock it (don't use your key), and open the door. On mine, the horn starts honking repeatedly and the headlights flip up and start flashing. If it goes off, put the key in the door and turn it. It should turn it off.
As for what alarm you pick, most can use the factory power door locks. If it doesn't (it should say) look for a different one. There's no need to for an aftermarket lock motor, unless your car didn't come with them stock.

Mine has only gone off once, I was in a crowded pool hall/bar and some chick came over the PA and said "there is a black... Mazda... with it's alarm going off" after which I proceed to yell, "Sh*t, that's me!" and run out to investigate. I think it set itself off because it was lonely and wanted to play.

second question is YES.the back up power supply is sometimes a 9 volt battery installed inside the alarm horn itself, strange, but true.Third question is also yes you just have to look around for what brand and price but perfer CLIFFORD alarms is what you might be looking for they have different models for your needs!
