GXL 13b no power
Hi, im new to this forum and any info you can help me with would be amazing.
i have a 1988 RX-7 Gxl, its the high end non turbo that year so i have the 5 lug wheels.
anyway, awhile back i was driving and i heard a POP. suddenly i stalled.
the car started right back up and drove yet i didnt have much power.
i know all about the rear seal blowing on these motors but my engine seems to have compreshion, fires up on comand
i replaced the fuel pump thinking i wasent getting the right fuel, i deffinatly got a better responce but still nothing like it was.
my car has:
cold air intake
air conditioning and smog pump taken out
no cat's with an APEXI N1 dual exaust (the old one that splits and has a can on each side)
Thanks so much.

You probably have compression on one rotor, but i'm betting you've blown an apex seal on one of the 2 and that you're causing more damage running the engine.

well might as well do that first.
no need to get it tested. just yank out both bottom spark plugs and listen for even pshhh 's out of the engine. there shouldnt be any gaps between them. itll be pshh -- pshh -- pshh if you pull just one plug, and then 6 quick psh psh psh psh psh psh if you pull both. either way you should have any uneven ness.
make sure to pull egi fuse so your not injecting fuel. quick 60second test!
