guys im stummped.

Alright guys I got a 87 I bought it not running guy said fuel pump was dead. I got it home drained the tank, put fresh fuel in and popped a walbro 255 in it and noticed a few sensors were new under the hood like the tps and afm even the bacv was new so I adjusted the tps and checked for trouble codes non on board so I started it and it ran andheld it's idle at 900 a little rough but I figured id do a 60k service and go from there. I wanted to check timming and the car ran out of fuel so i thought ill get it later.Mean while I removed all the interior to swicth over to a black interior in better shape. So I put fresh fuel in and I wont start I thought maybe it was flooded and ran through a de flooding, new plugs (ngk stock) and wires ( bosch) and still no start if I run starter fluid it fires right up and dies off. I tried jumping the pump and I can hear it running under the hood like a hissing sound out of the fuel rail on the passenger side. I have no clue as to what to do next please help.

A little more infor on the car its a 87
98k miles
90 psi compression
Rb header, bonez cat, borla dual cat-back exhaust
Walbro 255 fuel pump.

If you changed your interior, did you take the Relay off the bottom of the steering column?that is the Fuel pump relay.

Hopefully someone who actually knows this will chime in, but aren't walboro pumps not to be used on n/a's? Maybe that is the cause of the flooding?

hissing on the passenger side === do you smell gas? most likely the fuel dampner doing its job. now your problem is most likely when you changed out your dash. either something is un plugged or not plugged in.

did you change any wire harnesses? check your fuses. I had the same problem when i installed a walbro pump i did not put enough gas in or i had the float stuck because i added a lot of gas and then the gauge read 1/4 but the pump was sitting higher so it was not getting enough gas. make sure you have gas.

sounds like a fuel issue 87s flood very easy keep that in mind. mine would flood almost every time i shout it off i found somone messed with the variable resistor setting and had it on full rich. i backed it off to about a hair to the middle setting and that ended my flooding issues.

Well took a quick look this morning before I left to work and I did not notice anything unplugged when I put the dash back on first off its a s5 dash but I took the wiring off the old dash and transfers into this one and when I plugged everything it was only two blue plugs on the drivers side the logicon plug in the middle and one blue plug on the drivers side am I right?

a walbro 255 is too big for an n/a. It could be causing your engine to flood massively.
Also, make sure your ignition wires are plugged in properly.

When I was last swapping my dash I accidentally plugged the brake switch into the ignition because the plugs are the same, so you might want to check that. If both of your brake lights work then you're fine.

These cars already run a bit rich... That Walbro is probably drowning your engine with gasoline. You ought to put the N/A pump back in.

Why would the Walbro do that? The gas is just going back to the tank anyway.

Check the basics:

Fuel - is the fuel pump on? Check for stuck injectors. Are the plugs wet or smell of fuel?

Spark - Check for spark at the plugs. If no, change your plugs, check timing STAB the CAS.

Air - anything obstructing the intake? Maybe a plastic bag you forgot to take off (happened to me)

Fuel, spark, air. I think that's it.

Ok guys I had a chance to look at it again today I took my dash back out checked to see if I was missing some or had one pinced and boom I saw it, a two wire plug that I thought was for the speakers since ran a new set of speaker wires to the center I did not bother and left it hanging. Its a blue plug with two male connectors goes to a off white right under the steering column. Plugged it in said a few prayers cranked her over and to my neigbors demise it runs lol after lettng it warm up its running rough but I suspet alot had to do with me tinkering under he hood so i'm going to order injector o rings pick up some gaskets and re do what I took off and put back on in a hurry oh and change the fuel filter, I have a set of t2 injectors that just came back from rc so I may put those in don't know yet.
