Gutting a spare set of doors for the strip?

I was just looking to get advice from anyone who has already gutted their doors to reduce weight.

I have heard that about 50lbs. can be saved in each door. Between the sheet metal/window/support bars/ window hardware. I have a extra set of doors that match my car and was thinking about gutting them just for the drag strip.

Does anyone have any pics?
Lexan or plexi windows? (obviously that wouldnt be rollable)

Thanks guys

its definitely possible to save 100 pounds running gutted/cut doors with no beams, glass, hardware or inside sheetmetal. just make a latch for the lock and youre all set. I wonder how time consuming it will be to swap the doors out and to adjust your stock doors with the lock mechanism once you put them back on and want them to work well day to day.

it would be interesting even for us autox guys, well some of us that have V8 swaps are placed in Emod where anything goes and FC's are incredibly overweight for the class.

Word!

I was thinking about doing SCCA with my buddy who has a FB but he said Ii would have to run in super modified with the tube chassis guys so I quickly decided not to SCCA lol.

I think Ill give it a shot and post up my results. Maybe Ill even pop-rivit sheet metal door panels in.
