gutting my cats? (quick fix)

Im putting on a full 3" exhaust in less than a month, but for now i need to gt the cats. Im putting my engine back tomorrow and am not putting the air pump back on, so i need to gut the cats. I know i could buy a straight pipe, but why when im buying a full exhaust. just need a fix for now...my question is this, which cat (s) should i gut to keep my car from overheating? also do i just beat the **** out of there til it stops coming out? thanks---Nick

If you're getting a straight pipe anyway, gut all of them. Just take a crowbar and beat the **** out of the insides.
Do not breath in the powder that comes out, and wear a mask if possible. Don't want as fellow rotorhead getting sick...

Just gut them all and be done with it for the time being. Sure, the exhaust will sound "different" and it'll be leaky. Sure, the exhaust gas will be turbulent which is bad for performance. Sure, the exhaust will have hot spots in there making for extra backfires. This was all present when I did mine before I went 3". But when you get that other exhaust in you will appreciate it so much more.
