Question gutting cat; removing air pump

i was gonna get a down pipe and a test pipe but i still need to pass a visual inspection so no im gonna get the down pipe and then just gut the main cat

my question is once the cat is gutted i will no longer need the air pump right? or does it supply air for things other than the cat?

i want to remove the air pump but as of right now i dont want to remove the ACV or ne other emmisons stuff. can i do that? or does it all need to be done at once

i searched but couldnt rellay find a clear answer.

also if i do remove the air pump and the line that goes to the now gutted cat how should i plug up the line on the cat so that i dont then have an exhaust leak?

thanks
pinfield

If you ahve an N/a S5 you will need to find another method to actuate the auxilary ports. Otherwise the S4 you just need to keep the pipe that comes off the cat since it hooks up to the auxilary ports. You should also block off the ACV while your at it.

Hmm as far as that goes then I don't remember any problem. Just rip that baby off. The TII engine is a 4 port. I think you only need to cap off the lines and use the block off plate for the ACV. You should also think about getting a dual alternator pully since your water pump belt might slip not at higer RPMs.

Air pump just pumps air to cool the cat. Just take it of and cap the hose.

Thumbs up PUNCHED OUT MY 89 GTUs CATS

Well i just punched and gutted the 2nd and the 3rd main
cats.. i left the 1st cat..sounds Loud but it did increase
power!! i felt a diffrence between 2500-8500 rpms!!
more pull..i didnt do anything to my air pump..
i also have a Akimoto K&N ram airfilter charger..
i think mabey after this i might be running too LEAN on the fuel mixture..it is damm fast but untill i get a
Apex S-AFC II to tune my fuel curve i am not going to race my car..if i lean out i am just gonna blow my motor..
also i am planning to add NITROUS(NO2) to my GTUs.
so an upgraded fuel curve(richer) will be good..

Anyone have a -AFC 1 or 2 for sale?? PM me

here is the link to my filter
