Gunmetal Grey 10th Anniversary FC, Myth Dispelled!

So I was reading all these threads about "silver" 10th AE's and I realized, that wow... I have indeed seen a Silver 10th AE. It was about 2 years ago back a friend of mine first bought his FC, it turns out that it was silver. I figured that some jackass just decided to paint his 10th AE and then sell it, so I didn't say anything about it. He worked at a junkyard a few miles away and one day a guy came in who worked at a mazda dealership, and was also an FC enthusiast, and saw his car. Now it didn't occur to him that it could have been painted, I think he was a bit of an idiot, and he decided that he really wanted to run the VIN on that car to see what was going on. Said he'd come back a few days later and visit and tell him what's up with the car.

He came back like 3 days later and informed him that he was one lucky bastard, and that for some reason he had gotten 1 of 3 Gunmetal Grey 10th AE FCs that were made. So you see, there were 'silver' 10th AEs, just 3 of them.

The sad part of this story is that there are now only 2 of them, because this one was t-boned by some kid in a late 80s camaro comin off a stop sign.

But keep your eyes open around here in the great old pacific northwest, you might see the silver FC in a lot somewhere. Unless of course, it's been crushed.

Any proof of this? Like documentation or anything?
Do you happen to have the VIN for these 3 10th AEs?

Sorry not to say your a liar but it is a kind of unbelievable story.

Yah, the story sounds kind of iffy. Did your friend get his car from a private seller or a dealership?

I would also like to see proof. Do you have pics you can post? What was the color code? Can you dig up something official from Mazda? Until then, I remain completely skeptical.

that's pretty crazy if u think about it.
and it's exciting.. hot damn, a 3 imported silver FCs....
i don't care if it's true or not, that's a pretty phat urban legend.

fine, don't fuqqing believe it or not. don't post shiet saying "Oh, BS" and blah blah blah... "where's your documentation?" I want a picture of YOU standing with it in your Hand and a copy of today's newspaper.

of course there are gonna be skeptics, but every time I load up a new topic, I just see people being dicks.

isn't this a place to learn and trade information?

maybe putting the idea of 3 silver fcs might trigger someone's memory or something?

HEY! it might be crazy, but maybe YOU know something about a silver FC TOO???

maybe, huh?

thanks for the post, EvilEagle

Hey c'mon now. We don't mean any harm, I do agree that if the myth is true, it would be really kick *** (like how they made a few GOLD DeLoreans [actually true]) But it's just kinda hard to believe without a picture or doc. We're not hasseling you, we're just faqing with you. Lighten up.

Wow, excellent flamage!

Look, the story presented above is precisely that, a story. I, as well as several others, have read the history of the RX-7. No where does any book I have read mention a run of 3 special 10th Anniversaries. Plus, the 10th anniversary was a USDM product only. I raise the BS flag because I want proof. IT wasnt meant to offend anyone.

I have to agree, I dont think they ever made a gunmetal 10th AE either. There are a lot of people that work at a mazda dealership that dont know **** about these (rx7) cars. When the original poster said the guy seemed like a idiot...that should have been the first clue.....he probally is.
There should be some documentation somewhere on them if they exist. I would think whoever owned one of the supposedly reamining two would be on the froum. That car would be the rarest RX 7 ever made, with the execption of some race car Rx 7's.
When I contacted Mazda North America about my 10th AE all they could tell me is that is is a true 10TH Anniversary Edition and that it is
1 of the 1500 (obviously) made. All someone would have to do is call Mazda North America and ask them.

ohh yeah veo not trying to be a smarta@$$, its a cool story and all, sure gets the old imagination flowing..what if there actually were 3 Gunmetal 10 Annys?!? Sounds like a Gundam Wing storyline. "Long ago deep in the depths of Mazda they cloned Wankel himself and he built 3 Gunmetal 10th AE with the power to rule all the rx7's. Twin turbo, no cats, they say they run on nitromethane. They will decimate all that stand before them or raise the BS flag on them....good story right?? So was Moby Dick.

There were no grey, silver or anything but white 10th AE's made. It was probably a dealer who swapped badges and the like for a rich customer or simply someone painted the car and did it right by stripping the car.

But the simple solution, what does the VIN plate on the engine side of the firewall claim is the color is as well as what is the VIN. I can run it through my friend at Irvine and find out for sure.

Otherwise, I truly doubt that it is a grey 10th AE

I too have seen the magical silver AE...

..somewhere out there, it is cruising the long, lonely highways of North America, waiting to find its one special owner...

...maybe it will find you
