Gull wing conversion on FC

True gullwing doors (like on DeLoreans) only require 11" of clearance to open fully. My FC's doors need anywhere from 18-24" to open enough for me to exit.
that being said, I think the gullwings would be awesome. The red car a few posts up has it mostly right, but it doesn't look like its got a torsion bar to assist with lifting.... that would get old especially with the heavy ol' FC doors.

lol... Feels like a lot of thread resurrection lately..
I rather like the FC-Gullwing idea, but it'd be kind of a whim project with a secondary car if I could ever attempt it..
Scissor doors are kinda ugly to me, and the hinging is always a bit scary - I feel like I'm going to break them or the trim or something.. Not to mention they're pretty overdone nowadays [in general].
Edit: curiously, I just found this: http://scissor-doors.com/cart/index....oducts_id=8853
I wonder how many people've actually bought it.. Seems like most of the value would be in their "detailed instructions" and "1 on 1 professional support"
Though their pictures imply that they're the useless style [just slapping hinges at the top of your door instead of cutting into the roof]

I would prefer the gullwing over the scissors. Just because those aren't true scissors doors. At least that gullwing set, from 2003 lol, properly opens and shut....

one thing to think about. if, somehow you rolled youre car, and ended up on youre roof, how are you going to get the door open? windscreens aren't that easy to kick out from the inside.

I don't know. Those are some pictures I found on the Internet over 10 years ago. Had no info on the car back then and I don't know what ever came of it. However I keep them around because it shows the inner door structure needed for a nice gullwing conversion, and I am always toying with the idea of doing this to my car.

that part is actually a true story, my dad's landlord bought an AMG SLS, and he hated the ride so much he bought another non AMG SLS because the ride is better, and yes this means he has two of them.
it must be a really bad ride too, this guy occasionally drives a D-Type Jaguar to work.
