guages dead after clutch job

Ok i just did my clutch job on my car and now my volt fuel and dummy lights dont go on. Not sure on the rest of the guages but when i took off my tranny was there a plug that connects to it or something?? Also I dont know if this is normal but i can hear like a clicking noise when i put it on the ON position now.... not sure if it did it before??

Any help please?

Gauges are controlled by CPU on the driver's side. Check fuses and the CPU. The ECU (or Emissions Control Unit) controls fuel and spark. Body electrics come from the CPU.

Nah, usually what happens when it’s blown while a clutch or tranny work is that the 7.5 amp fuse in the drivers fuse box is blown.

See the reverse light switch on the tranny gets its power from that fuse, and if they forgot to unplug the switch when dropping the tranny they broke the wires.

As soon as a broken wire (black/Yellow in this case) shorts to the body the fuse blows, killing the ignition circuit to the gauges, reverse lights, cruise control, theft system, etc.

and that answer is not even looking at a service manual. The ECU has nothing to do with a clutch job and certinly does not control the majority of the gauges.

were you really trying to answer??? or just being a post *****?

Ok i checked the fuse and it is still fine...but i went and took off that plug on top the tranny and found out that all of the wires have rips and i can see the copper insides. Well anyway would that have caused the guages to not work and if it is would I have to replace it or can i just get new wire and splice them in???

The ripped wires get their power from the meter fuse.

I would bet the Meter fuse is blown, you will need to check it with a multi-meter as sometimes the fuse can be blown but not show noticable signs.

Don't forget to cover and fix the exposed wires before replacing the fuse.
