Remember, collector cars are rarely driven. If you drive one a lot and run up the milage/wear/paint chips, it would be worth no more than any other street car.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
It was very clean, and cherry.
Looking at it, it doesn't appear to have even half the 38K miles on it. A few minor dings in the doors (like all FC's get), but the paint and plastic in great condition.
Mostly all original, looked like it was always brought into Marin for service (Most of the customers in that area are very ****--- maybe even more so than me)... You know the type: where if the headlamp burns out they take it to mazda.
Looks like it had been stored in a garage under a cover for the last 10 years.
The only thing that was weird was that it felt that the shifter bushings were shot.
IMO it was worth $6k no problem, since most of the GTUs models seem to be selling in the Bay area around $4k-$5k right now when you can find one. But $8K??? Maybe if it was a T2 with that few miles.

I asked if they would consider $5K first, then $6K but the guy I talked to said that not at this piont would they consider that low.
Maybe that will change after a month or two of sitting on the lot, I don't know. They sold a 83 FB with only 14K miles on it about 6 months ago and got every penny they were asking.

I'll have a Coke!
well, you have to remember this a dealer trying to sell the car, so of course they are going to jack the price up because the non-car enthus. buyer isn't going to know the real worth and would probably be willing to pay that for an '89.

A car is worth exactly what the dealer can sell it for - that's the beauty of the current capitalistic system. If the dealer can sell if for $8k (which is probable, given the avg income of that area), then it's worth $8k.
That said, I'd spend $8k on it if I had it to spend on a third car that I wouldn't drive.
