Unhappy GSL-SE Injectors

I picked up a set of GSL-SE Injectors for my 88 TII 10th Annv. I was going to install them on the secondary until I looked at Mazda Trix web site. They stated that those injectors would only work on year models 86 - 87 1/2. Now, I have herd of people saying that they were using them on 88 TII's. So now I am confused, is anybody out there using them on an 88 TII?

Thanks Guys

you need to find out what the resistance of the SE injectors are, and what the resistance is of the stock 88TII injectors. Some cars use a high impedence injector with a resistor pack mounted elsewehere under the hood. Others used a low impedence injector and didn't need the resistor pack. Also, different injectors are keyed differently so they can't be easily intermixed. Do a search on injectors, there are a couple good threads out there that will better explain this.

The 680's are low impedence. Your 88 runs high impedence. Seach it, and you will find out how to change the signal before the ecu gets the signal.

Just solder in a 10 watt 10 ohm resistor to each of the GSL-SE injector electrical lines and cover with electrical tape.

The GSL-SE injectors are a drop in replacement for TII secondaries, ONLY up to 87.5. Half way through the year MAZDA changed the impedeance from low to high. If you get confused on which model 87 is low and which is high impedeance, it's easily identifiable by a resistor box located on the passanger strut tower inside the engine compartment. It's aprox 4" long and it's insides are made of ceramic that is easily noticable just by looking at it. If the car has this resistor box it has low impedeance injectors. Obviously your 88TAE is high impedeance. So you'll have to convert the signal.

The drivers for those injectors in the ECU would go **** up eventually. Install the 10W/10ohm resistors in one of the wires going to each injector that has the 680's. RadioShack sells them all day long for a buck or two each.

Yeah, DO NOT just install them without the resistor. That is not a good idea. If you are on WOT and they don't work right, you may go lean and say goodbye to your motor. The resistors are dirt cheap and easy to solder in, definately worth the effort IMO.
