I would do the firewall/ transmission ground also.

You must have a short somewhere in your clutch system, I have never heard of anyone having a problem like yours.

I think the connection that made the most difference is the one from the negative battery terminal to the strut tower.

Wouldn't grounding your alternator bracket cause more engine noise through your speakers?
