gROUND WIRE ON ALTERNATOR TO TRANNY
hey guys i ben having a problem thats ben giving me a big headache its my head lamps. well it started with my fuses popping because my side markers were not connected and they were touching each other. Now when i drive the head lamps get brighter and deemer as well as my cluster. i just changed them to h4 housing and installed hid lights same thing is happening. im wondering if this has to do with the alternator ground wire let me say the wire is all corroded and rusting looking. does this have a part in what is going on? help me guys i really need the help. 1987 turbo 2 in the model.

The alternator doesn't require a ground wire and it shouldn't affect the lights. Can you get the lights to behave in a problematic way when the car is in neutral as it sits in the driveway? If so then take a volt meter and place the red meter lead to the B+ terminal of the alternator and the meter's black lead to the negative battery terminal while someone reproduces the rpm necessary to get the lights to go from bright to dimmer and check to see if the voltage reading from the alternator changes and if it does what is the range of voltage being seen.
It's also possible the alternator is not powerful enough to power the lights with sufficient voltage.
