Ground Problems!!

On my 86 NA ive taken out the tranny and replaced it, but when i was taking it out i kinda over tighted the top screw that held the ground wire, and it broke. Well now im having starting problems, my friend tells me its that wire we broke. Now here is the question where did that ground connect to? And would this ground give me starting problems?

the ground wire on top of the tranny just grounds the back of the motor and tranny to the firewall.

You could remove it and still start the car. If you are having grounding issues and you changed the tranny or starter check to make sure the surface between the tranny and starter is clean of any oil or grease and mates will together.

the screw on the right of the starter??

Yes.

the starter and engine and tranny all need to be mated tightly together, with no grease or oil or paint between them
