GReddy PRofec A Install questions

In the process of installing a GReddy Profec A boost controller in my 88' TII. This is what the Greddy says about the install http://www.greddy.com/Technical/profec_frame.htm but as you can see by the pictures there's an extra hose nipple on the unit not mentioned in the install notes If anyone's installed one or knows what this might go to...............................

Yikes take it out and sell it or return it.... 99% chance the profect A won't work on your car. or any rx7 with interal wastegate

well the unit is supposed to work for internal or external wastgates, but I may do alittle more research on it first just to be safe, and as far as the hose fittings there's three on the one side the site talks about but in the picture there's a 4th on the rear of the unit

the profec a will not work with a modded t2, with internal wastegate. I haven't got it to work yet, and i have a T04 turbo, so basically no creep.

The 4th, nipple. The one on it's own, is the bleeder, no need to plug that anywhere

I've heard of and found sites covering the install of a profec a on 3rd gen's and they seem to work fine so I'm confused as well why there would be an issue on mine and have yet to find info supporting if it will or won't besides the debate on the wastegate which the profec is supposed to work with both so I'm alittle confused as well

in order for the profect A to work. you need to do 2 test runs so it can read the boost. this involvings doing 2 full throttle 4th gear runs (120mph??) ( and must be done again each time you disconnect the battery.....)

during this test it reads your boost rise curve. if it sees any creeping. (IE if you car runs over 5psi) it thinks there is an error. and it will not let you set the controller. so you can't raise the boost or even use it.

my friend has tryed it both on his talon and FC. the only way he could get it to work is install the stock exhuast first so it wouldn't creep. set the controller, and put the exhuast back in. but now the testing of the boost curve is wrong since now it's different. and it won't work as well. plus as above. I'm pretty sure each time you disconnect the battery. you have to reset the controller (reinstall stock exhuast...)

the profect B is good.

or you could save yourself lots of money and pick up a manual ball and spring for $25 that'll work as good as any electric one. just means you need to open the hood to adjust.

you guys should speak from experience b4 you go posting false info. I have an 89 TII with stock turbo and have no problem getting the controller to work. It takes a few times to get it to read the boost, but once it does just set the boost and its done. in my opinion, it is one of the best controllers on the market in terms of unit control and boost responsivness. also, if it continues to not read the boost correctly, it has an override mode that overrides P2 and lets you go directly to boost set mode.

i am speaking from expreience, and i've tried every learn method out there, but i can't use it

first gear will hold at 1.0 bar, and it gets there damn quick, but second it spikes and goes back to 0.6, then i'll hold 0.6 (standard) on the rest of the gears and take a hell of alot of time getting there!

if i had a second chance, i'd go AVC-R or maybe e-01 because that doesn't use fuzzy logic anymore
