Rx7store.net is selling a very good greddy intercooler for 86-89 rx7's for like 1k.
From what ive read all you need is to relocate the battery, and cut a couple of holes for the intercooler piping. Its not all that bad, and well worth it.

You also need to remove the bumper reinforcement, and there is a bit of cutting required to the bumper. That core is massive

Actually you just need to trim the brackets/bar for the bumper re-enforcement.

I originally thought the same thing (that you had to remove the bar entirely) and even mounted it without the bumper bar, but then went back in and made some minor adjustments and it fit once there was minor trimming done.

But back to the original question:

The biggest problem that I had putting it in, is that the piping was designed for a FC without power steering or the S5 power steering (which the kit is designed for) is in a different spot than the S4 power steering. I ended up cutting the piping and having it re-welded to make it fit around the power steering pump assembly.

I think if I had to do it over again using the kit, I would have tried to make a MK2 MR2 electric power steering pump work there instead.

I also didn't have to relocate my battery, I had to remove the battery case, and make a couple of adjustments and cuts to the battery tray. But I was (and still do) using a smaller battery than stock.

On the passengers side , behind the passengers head light you have to cut here:

On the drivers side here:

You can clearly see the battery tray bolt holes here as well.

So the core fits this way:

See it fits by the battery, with some modification:

Looking here, you can see the car side of the bracket that is needed to be trimmed a little to fit around the intercooler.

and assembled:

although in mine I painted the tubing that runs through the duct area black, so that it did not stand out as much.

Well, The S4 kit was no longer available when I put my 13BT and FMIC in a couple years back.

I don't know if they started to make the S4 kit again. So if you have a S4 and the later kit, you either need to remove the power steering pump, or cut and re-weld the tubing.

How much smaller is your battery than stock? Will a optima yellow fit in there after modifying the battery box?

its just a really small groupe 35 battery. Since the optima if pretty tiny as well, I would think it would fit.

Anyone installed the GReddy on a S5 TII? Seems everyone has an S4, and I'm wondering how much cutting there actually is on an S5.

fyi, i installed this without removing the battery box, i cut about 1" out of the corner and it fits fine. bumper reinforcement removed and the little mounting tabs cut off like in the instructions. the only problem with this kit is fitting it past the brake master cylinder. its made for japanese cars which have it on the other side. I cut about 2" out of the pipe and used an extra coupler I had laying around and it fits fine.
