Be grateful for what you've got here...

Jeebus. I miss my 7, lol. I haven't owned one in about three years now, but in the time I had one I learned a LOT about them. Either from reading and posting on here or just going at it with the car, I learned a lot and had a great time. Currently I'm driving other vehicles, and the issues I have with them I'm having to join other forums to learn about them and all I can say is wow: this tech section absolutely spoiled me. Talk about specific answers to problems given by knowledgeable people, in a timely manner. I haven't found better than the 2nd gen section... It may not be the same as it used to be but the info is still here.

I mean you've got to filter through the people who have no idea, the re-posters, the idiots and the ******** just like anywhere else but holy crap it's 100 times worse on toyota and honda forums. Every post I read ends in "took it to the shop, and they said this" or "better take it to the shop" or "it was such a headache, the shop couldn't track the problem down!" Horrible. They're more interested in what amount of tint they've got then posting relevant info about the vehicles they work o- er, don't work on...

I guess having a platform so specific and "odd" as the RX- platforms you get a lot of enthusiastic people eager to help that you don't find anywhere else. Anyways, rant over. Can't wait to get another 7 in the driveway. See ya!

i think the rotaries are a lot more of a niche market, so many owners have no choice but to solve for issues. i mean, with a honda, you can take it to any hole and have them replace a distributor. funny tho, cuz hondas are like the easiest cars to work on. so simple and practicle. not like these things! haha

Pretty much. I've also found other forums for my daily drivers don't even begin to measure up.

I'm looking for real tech advice and just see "LED lights" "tint" and all that young punk **** (lol no offense).

It's funny because I wish this forum was a bit more like mazdaspeedforums. By "donating" $25 a year to the forum to help with maintenance costs etc you get access to classifieds, "the lounge" etc. It helps weed out some of the idiots. They also have more comprehensive DIY posts with pictures and step by step help. This forum is great and has a lot of useful information, but I feel that many of the archived threads need updated due to dead links and things of that nature.

edit: see some stuff here. http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/forum/f589/

don't even get me started on the VW forums..... unless its for the corrado or scirocco its all stance faggotry and NOONE works on there cars.

Luckily all the mechanics I have learned from my FC translates very well to everything else. minus anything newer requires a scan tool to diagnose. friggen newer OB2 BS sometimes......

I've been on this forum for over ten years now . And your right all forums have their issues . Am also apart of other forums for my trailblazer ss and ranger . A lot of the tbss forums are vendor and shop bias from one forum to the next . So all you get is this shops better or buy from this guy not other . Tech is a joke half the time with multi threads about what cai should I go with . What Catback exhaust gain can I get the mot power from . I don't knock noobs at all . We all were at one point . But common sense does lack a lot also . In the end all you can do is weed thur the bullshit and find what your looking for and let the others argue between them selfs . End of my lil rant lol Op , wish you luck on finding another fc one day

Well, it looks great in my garage at the moment, lol! We pulled the motor and found the block was cracked, a piston was destroyed and the crankshaft was warped. So we're hunting for another 3SGTE... those are easy to find. Suspension components for a 1 out of 1200 1980's car is another story all together, lol.

Thanks for the good wishes, unek87!

As far as a rotary being hard to work on? Holy crap, they are so simple and so easy and so accessible! Try working on a Toyota, just as many vac lines if not more and coolant lines running EVERYWHERE. They look like some old vines grew over and around the engine. How dare you try to change a spark plug!? Don't you know you have to disassemble half the engine bay first!?

I miss my little NA FC, I could fix anything on it in a matter of minutes without having to remove half the motor, lol.
