Unhappy Got Rubber... now for some wheel spacers!

Hey!,
I just picked up my new 225/45ZR17 Falken Azenis Tires from a local socal7's member (thanks Jeff!), and need to shoehorn them onto my car! The rims are currently 17 x 7.5" with a 43mm offset, and suspension / bodywork is stock. Does anybody know how much of a spacer I will need?

Also, are the FC wheels / hubs 'hubcentric'? I was planning on machining the spacers myself, any tips? The plans were to machine the spacers and make them the same OD as the hub, then drill out the 5 holes and install longer wheel studs. is that a safe solution? Is there a better solution for this wheel / tire combination?

Thanks in advance... I really want to get this figured out quickly but safely too!,

if you use spacers try to find longer lug bolts.
i tried to put spacers on mine and i could hardly get a lug nut on.......................oh i tried 1/4" spacer, you want at least 2 threads showing past nut (uncapped lugnuts are best)

I was wondering if it would be safe to go for longer wheel studs, or do i have to machine the spacers with some form of stud built in?

I answered this in the Suspension section. Don't think you'll need spacers and the only ones worth getting so you don't have to go through all that labor is to get the H&R hubcentric studded spacers. Everything else is just mediocre.

Assuming I need the 8mm spacers, would it be worth welding them to my wheel hubs, or would that not change the strength of anything much? Also, is ARP the only company who makes longer wheel studs for the car?

Thanks!,

Scroll to bottom...

These don't need longer studs.
ARD T2 is going to have a cow, but we all don't have $100+ to waste of spacers.

Hehe, thanks Ted! The only other issue is the wheels -- I don't know how much more stud they 'use' up over the stock wheels. Could you give me a guideline on how much stud I need to have in there?

Thanks!

As a rule, 5 turns with the stock lug nuts are sufficient.

does not having the stock lug nuts really make a difference?

If you got the lug nuts that go all the way through, you should be able to have some thread come out the backside.&nbsp Else, all "covered" lug nuts should spin 5 times on the stud before torquing.
