Got the on/off throttle hesitation much improved...
I posted a thread a few days ago about my horrible on/off light throtle jerkiness....
well, I got it much reduced, but it's still there a tiny bit- but it's nowhere near as annoying as it was before.... its just a little bump, instead of the whole car jerking around....
I grounded the two ground wires on the TPS connector right to the firewall.
and I readjusted it using the 1v method after that.... it was out a bit - at about 1.18 V....
It's much smoother now, but not perfect... but definatly liveable!!
I'm still going to check the throttle plate clearance though... might finish it off...
Thanks to those who helped!

congrats.
I had the same problem (jerkiness) and a TPS adjustment fixed this. My TPS was way off. Also, first time I adjusted it, I did it (read some method with ohms) way wrong. Made is real bad.
Glad to see the TPS did that trick

It was pretty much adjusted fine before I re-grounded it, - but when ran another ground for the the TPS connector- the voltage jumped up by almost .1V!
Previously, having to set it up compensating for that voltage drop must have thrown out the synchronization between the other components...
What I have noticed is that almost EVERYTHING that has the brown wire w/black stripe on it for the ground (most sensors) needs a good chassis ground, or maybe a gang ground, right to the -ive on the battery!
I'll check the CAS next to see if it has one, and everything else too!!
Grounding the pressure sensor, MAF, and TPS so far has each fixed a problem!
I'll do everything else now that has that brown/black wire....

What wires on the TPS and MAF did you ground? Are there two brown with black stripe wires on the TPS? Is the wire on the MAF brown with black stripe? I don't seem to have this problem but I like to add grounds just to be safe.
May I ask for some clarification? Whan ppl say "re ground" it means run a NEW ground wire to OLD chasis connection, OR run a NEW ground wire to NEW chassis connection area (new bare metal spot) OR keep OLD ground AND run NEW ground to NEW location on the chasis? plus any other combo I missed.
Which is it?
Which is it?
If memory serves- There are (2) from engine to firewall and (1) exhaust (near muffler) to chassis.
You start by beefing up the engine to firewall strap. Then you disconnect the battery, pull each sensor connector, wire brush the pins, and hit them with a blast of spray contact cleaner (Home Depot has it).
You need a good sensitive VOM to then ohm out the various ground pins to battery neg. If a ground is suspect, splice in a temporary supplemental ground to see if that helps. If so, then you make it permanent and dress it up.
Along with resoldering PCB’s, this makes almost all electric related problems go away.
(Oh, yeah - reconnect the battery.)

bambam i have a question for u.. i seen on the avatar.. u mounted the s-afc right on the ashtray?? is that custom?? or is it just sitting there??? help me outtt! i dont wanna really mount it on top of the dash in front of the clock and warning lights(too civicish and ricy)...
Man, I'm so glad i have a car that does'nt have the ground problems that you guys have. All i have is one extra ground strap from engine to fire wall. Sounds like it a pain in the bum to have to reground everything. Hope you get everything figured out. CJ

Ya.. it seemed to run just fine when it was BONE stock... a tiny bit jerky on/off throttle... but not too bad.
It wasn't untill I yanked out the engine, and modded everything else that the little drivability probs started to crop up- especially with the S-AFC..... Maybe with the more closely tuned engine (easier flowing intake/exhaust) there isn't as much room for error in fuel delivery?
Who knows.... but it's OK now.
Oh- and My S-AFC is mounted in the ashtray spot.... the pic in the avatar sucks, because I hadn't cut out the ashtray cover to go around it yet.
The cover is now on as the surround, and it couldn't look cleaner.
