Talking Got My N1 Muffler On...HOLY COW!!!!

I just installed my Racing A Stainless Steel N1 Muffler (same dimensions as the Apex, just about 3/4 the price). DAMN!!!!!!! It is soooooo nice. And it is a lot quieter than I had expected. Gives a rumble at idle, and until about 5k RPM, and then it just screams!! I can't wait until I get my header and presilender on!! If only ny RB presilencer wasn't backordered....

Damn, that was quick. How long did it take you to install it? I can't wait until I get to worry about how my exhaust sounds, if only i had an engine.... I sound like the tin man, if I only had a heart! Make us a wav!

I will try to make a wav once I get the whole exhaust on. Man, I hate just looking at my nice shiny, new header in my garage, and RB says the presilencers are back ordered till the end of this month!!!! Oh well, at least I got my muffler for the AutoX this weekend...

Ok, do keep me informed. I'm still debating what I'm going to do for exhaust on my car, but I guess thats minor thought at the moment. My main concern is where the hell is my engine! I'm guessing that your exhaust didn't take you long since you just recieved it today, right? Any broken knuckles? I think about 70% of the bolts I removed from under my car broke, spent three days replacing them all!

Well, it took about 45 minutes to get the old y-pipe and mufflers off, then about 15 to get the new set up in place. All of the bolts were unrusted cuz I had pulled the entire exhaust about 2 months ago so I could gut all of the cats. The new unit weighed like 1/3 of the old set up, and I just have a set of sore biceps, and a bruise on the back of my head where I whacked it on the jackstand! All in all, from selecting my tools, to when I left my mom's house, it took about 70 minutes.

Hah, it took me more than that just to remove my old exhaust! It didn't want to come out no matter what I did. Well, good luck on the AutoX I have to get back to work here, after I call the guy with the engine for the 30th time in the past two days! Oh, one last question, did you notice a vast performance increase, or minimal?

Oh, and as for ordering one....I bought it slightly used from SiyahGTU here on the forum. Contact him as for where to get the goods. I paid $250 for the whole unit.

Well, it is stainless, and there is only a little discoloration on the welds, and it is about 2k miles old. Looks new.

I can feel it pull my harder now, as well as it pulls MUCH smoother to redline. Yeah, am i guessing a 8-10 hp increase by my ***-dyno. Well, the header and presilencer, along w/ the muffler should give me 20+hp, so, you do the math...

Cool, guess I'll have to tell scott his 75HP increase turbo hood on his NA (ricer joke) is going to have to be followed by some exhaust so he feels better.

I know it sounds quiet now, but I am honestly warning you..... the presilencer on... OK, a bit louder, but with the headers on it turns into a totally different beast. It gets really freakin loud!!!! I had to put 8" resonated tips on, AND a borla muffler as a presilencer..... along with my edelbrock RPM mufflers.. just to quiet it down once I put the headers on....
It really kills the sound... catbacks sound SOOOOOO damn nice with the stock manifold/cat.... too bad the headers change it so much
I'm just warning you so you arent really upset.
OK- It isnt the worst sound ever, but it just doesn't sound like it does now.

Good luck!
Dan

So if noise is an issue then ditch the headers and run a race pipe off the stock manifold and into the rb pre-silencers. You only gain 2hp off the top from using a single type header anyways right, unless you were running true duals all the way.

least your cans are bigger so they cancel most of the sound out. mines are 2 1/2 in. mufflers. setup with the true dual. lets just says dammmmmmmmmmmmmmm its loud. you havent heard loud till you hear this.
