Unhappy got me my first rx7, need some help though

So i have always wanted an RX 7, im fascinated by rotary motors, but the one i got needs a little work. It seems to idle a little low, and shakes the car...this stops when i hold the gas in and keep it at about 1500 r's. Also, it seems like its not enough getting air or fuel or something...it just doesnt have the pickup it should and sometimes stalls when i come to a stop. (its a 5 speed and does it even with the clutch all the way in) I dont know where to begin and i dont know of a very reputable rotary mechanic in the area...please, any suggestions, troubleshooting help, anything would be greatly appreciated.

Well since you just got it. Change the oil, change the spark plugs, check your grounds, and air filter. Make sure the gas is clean. Then see what happens. If it acts the same way check to see if you have compression. search the forum to find several ways to do this. Good luck.

check on the FAQ areas on how to tune the TPS and clean your BAC (bypass air control) vavle [controls your idle]

Yes, a basic tune up should be the first thing you do. You should do a compression test when you change the spark plugs. If the compression is really low, you might as well forget about doing anything else, because it means you need to replace the apex seals and that is not a small job.

Check this out: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/newowner.htm

Also, your problem is most likely due to a sticking BAC valve, and/or maladjusted TPS. Most likely the BAC is the major component of this problem.
