Got a completely new exhaust system today

The first part is that the car sounds great, looks great, the bad rusty hangers are gone, and the smokey oil smell is gone. The car no longer smells like a smog filled highway in winter.

However: The car smells DINSTINCTLY of burning hair.

Er... is this just residue burning off of new parts? I have a new cat, which is part of the downpipe, new Y pipe, and a new catback. It's all Bonez Street Legal system.

So what do you guys think? I really would appreciate like, a million second opinions of what the muffler installer told me.

I don't have RX7.com's answer yet. They're... out to lunch.

If there is a sticker some place on the equipment then it will smell until it burns off.

People usually say that the cats burn off some stuff the first few days. Did you get it from rx7.com?

yup... my exhaust smelled like **** when it was installed. It was the muffler weld that was creating that wonderful aroma. along with some residue from the cat.

Wow! I'm glad to see everyone is so excited. I'll have some pictures soon. Okay, so maybe you're not so excited. But I left for a haircut and I come back to six posts. Anyway, I gave RX7.com a call (yes, I bought it from them), and they said that it'll smell for a little while because of the new cat. Plus any tape or anything has to come off as well. (Or stickers, yes.) A local garage and my dad said the same thing. Rotten eggs is what the car used to smell like before today, and it smells very clean. Also, it sounds very happy and has a lot more pickup. Come to think of it, I'll probably just put my pictures in a completely different post since I have more to show ya'll than the exhaust... Thanks for all your help, though! I got the Bonez Superflow with the RP 50mm catback.

I love the smell of new exhaust....my MX-6 coupled with NY winters mad sure I never had to go without that smell.

Glad to hear your car doesn't stink anymore....standing behind mine while it's running is not good for your social life.
