Got the beast to start now It won't crank

Got my 7 back from the depths of hell with some oil in the chamber.

Shut it off.

Now it won't even crank over. No clicks. Nothing. It's so quiet I can hear the pump turn on

Ideas ? Battery is good it's practically brand new.

Edit: I hear a click when I turn the key to the on position coming from the steering wheel area
Edit edit: I hear another click and a tiny light on the radio go on and off everytime I try to crank

have you cheacked anything? or just waiting for someone to hold your hand? from your post you mention NO troubleshooting. do some basic trouble shooting that you would for any car. if nothing works(which im sure it WILL) then report back

Yes. Since I'm not a moron I searched and came up with two causes. Starter is fried or alarm is ******* with it but either way I'm not into holding hands thanks for the offer though.

Nothing is disconnected

If you have the factory alarm then you have the Starter Cut Relay which is located next to the Main Relay, which is near the trailing coil. There should be a thick Black/Green wire that has voltage w/key to start at this four wire relay. This wire needs to be jumpered to the Black/White wire in this plug. Disregard the thinner Black/Green wire in this plug as it has voltage w/key to on and is not needed for jumpering.

And does your car require the clutch to be depressed to start the car or not?

I had that happen once, the switch for the clutch hits a small rubber bumper on the clutch pedal. The rubber part fell off and the clutch switch would fit through the hole left in the clutch pedal. I went to Home Depot racing and got some rubber plug that fit in the hole.

I posted after I searched to get some input. But while you're at it being a big tool and contributed no input please leave your posts are worthless since real members actually helped me.

I have had this happen to me a few times, it turned out to be the starter. I had to get under the car and tap the starter a few times with the tire iron and the car would start right up. Lucky I had a spare starter to replace it with but if this is the problem, you will need a new starter or get yours rebuilt. Hope this helps.

Get a buddy to help you and do a wire trace with the single wire on the starter .. Check with the key in start position and see if there is power to solenoid , remember the clutch switch might be giving you trouble ..( only small wire there is ) if no power then you have wiring problems if there is power going to the single small post on solenoid then you have starter problems . Take it out and mark the housings with a small center punch take some pics as you go . Let us know what you find .. ( Make sure you are blocked and safe before going under the car . ) Gerald m
