A lot of people install mesh/fencing in the back of the bumper to try to catch/prevent those things from hitting the intercooler.

if you go with an intercooler like that, get an oil temp gauge and make sure you've got your underbelly tray installed!

can road gravel and such cause extensive damage to the intercooler? or is it cosmetic damage people worry about?

i was thinking of ducting air to the oil cooler with a sleet of aluminum.
Like a scoop that hangs down a few inches under the fmic, as wide as the fmic. run the "other end" of this scoop to the bottom of the oil cooler.

the air comming through the fmic will go to the oil cooler and to the rad. (no a/c), ther will be more non-heated air going to the oil cooler.

i dont currently have the under belly tray. i know that i need one... but with my ducting and vented hood, do i really need it?

You could make your own belly tray out of aluminum if you so wished, i'd highly suggest you set up sealed ducting between the FMIC and Radiator the oil cooler can sit in between them alone

so should i even bother with the oil cooler scoop too? or just the duct from the fmic to the rad?

I was just about to buy this intercooler...my question is.. is it too big for the stock HT18 runnin between 9-15lbs? i plan on switching to a larger snail down the road but using a stock rebuilt for now. I saw the smaller intercooler on ebay also would that be better? opinions appreciated...

Does that piping kit have flared ends? So the piping doesn't blow off? I'm going to be running 17psi and I know if they aren't they WILL blow off..

they are not... and even if they were you will have to cut them to fit anyway... so you would cut the flare off. either take them somewhere or buy the tool. its 100 bucks from a site a buddy found. he plans to charge $20 to use it for a day. a few of us local people need it sooo it all works out.

i was thinking of making one with a old pair of vise grips... weld some V groove things to the end of the pliers and go to town... but he is getting that tool so ill use the right tool for he job.

If you keep the stock fan.. you won't overheat with an FMIC..

If you use a proper E-Fan and seal up around your radiator with foam, you wont overheat.. But, you also can't use a cheap, restrictive IC core.....

I'm not as ambitious for big power, so I'm thinking aquamist is in my future.
