Good reviews on trans fluids?

I was doing some comparitive shopping for some manual trans fluid/gear oil. Royal Purple is over $15 A QUART at the parts store. I really don't want to order Redline, I hate waiting shipping.

So..has anyone had luck with Valvoline, Mobil 1, or even Lucas gear oils?

Try http://www.summitracing.com/ they usually have decent prices on gear oils. But I am sure Lucas or Mobil 1 would be fine if you are just street driving.

this reminds me, i need to change my trans and diff oils, havent done it in a good minute

As long as it is a GL4 or GL5 rated gear oil w/ the FSM specified weight it should be good...right?

I really like royal purple, only problem I had was it would be a little harder to shift when the fluid is cold. and the price of course

I've used Redline MT-90 and Mobil 1, I like both, but Mobil 1 is more easily available only like $10 a quart

I've used the Redline since the car was new, but have heard many good reports about the GM Syncromesh with the Friction Modifier-12377916
