Good Price for a 10th Anniv. edition?

What would you guys consider a fair asking price for a 88 TII 10 Anniversary edition? I am trying to help my brother (KamiSama12) find a good 2nd gen 7 and found a 10th anniversary edition for $7K. It looks like the guy either just finished restoring it or just rebuilt the entire engine in it. He is saying it has a new engine, clutch, turbo and RB exhaust on it. I am not too knowledgable about 7's so I looked on Kbb.com it said retail should be about $5K. Do you think this guy is way overpriced or is $7K a good price for this rare car?

Sorry for any confusion but I'm Cliff, KamiSama12 is my brother and is at Tech School right now and can access the net on weekends.

Like I said, I really don't know too much about 7's...I'm more of a motorcycle person. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

For $7000, it would have to be in IMACCULATE condition with super low mileage. Find out the mileage and check http://www.kbb.com - it probably isn't worth $7000.

For $7000, I would expect a car under 50,000 miles that looks, runs, and drives nearly new.

The 10th Anniversaries are great cars, but they only hold marginally more value than another TurboII.

The guy may just have no idea what to ask and is starting high - he could be bargained down.

I think it is overpriced. A friend of mine went down to TN to pick up 3rd gen with 59K miles and in need of a paint job for $9000. I got my 10th AE autox car with a bad engine for $1250 and just bought a ported engine from Atkins. Best thing to do is ask someone who isn't a 7 fan what they would pay.

For $7000 expect excellent condition with low engine miles OR lots of modifications but built right (ie aftermarket ECU).

How do you get $5K? I went to kbb.com, and even with 1 mile on the odometer and in Excellent condition it maxed-out at $3,790 for my zip code. You are using Private Party Value, right?

Anyway, $7K is insane, even for an initial asking price.
