Good place to buy a ported S4 N/A engine??
Well, I want to get a rebuilt and streetported engine for my car, gonna try and build a quick N/A Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think the best place to get one from would be. I dont live too far from KD rotary, but I hear theyre kinda expensive, and I will have like months wait. PLus I dunno if they even do N/A engines. The other option is pinapple, but the shipping from there will probably kill me. Theres a guy on this forum, I believe its "Rotary Ressurection" (sp?), that does rebuilds and porting, but never really heard much about him. Just wondering if theres any really highly recomended places for N/A engines, that arent too expensive, I am kinda on a budget, like to keep it around $1k. Thanks

well, prob. not gonna find one for 1000 unless you do it yourself. the cheapest i've seen on the parts trader .com is 1800 for an fc n/a extended street port. if you want to do it yourself you can bout the templates at mazdatrix and rebuild kit at like rx7store or rx7. com.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
YEah, that would be me.
I can do porting, and I build any rotary NA or turbo, the short block works the same way on all rotaries.
Basically youre wondering why I do them so much cheaper than anybody else...well, I reuse your old rotoro housings, or pull spares from core engines I have here. That accounts for close to $800 worth. This doesnt mean your engine wont be a good one and last a good while, it just means it wont be as like new, as soon, as one with new or excellent housings would be.
Another reason is the misconception that you need to replace every seal and spring inside an engine. Barring unusual circumstances, side seals, corner seals, and springs can all be reused for 2 or 3 times if need be. Ive had new ones, and spec'd them against used ones, with very little wear. THis is a savings of a few hundred bucks again, and for a street engine that needs to last 4 or 5 more years it will be fine.
These options are put out there to help those enthusiasts who cant afford to break the bank for a tight, like new engine. Some people's cars arent even in all that good shape, but they still want to drive it, so I offer this ability. FOr those of you who can afford $2500 and up for a new engine, or a race prepped engine, then by all means go ahead, for you are not the audience I wish to help with this anyway.
A basic rebuild includes apex seals, corner seal plugs, and the gasket kit for your year of car. This runs anywhere from $800-900. Recommended but not required are oil seals, the oil thermo bypass pellet, front and rear main seals, and oil springs, these will add around $125 more. Aftger that, pretty much everything else is optional,,,rotor and main bearings, side seals, corner seals, springs, porting, etc. Porting can be a mild to heavy streetport and ranges from $100-150.

my FD engine only had $4000 in parts...... three parts reused rotors and eshaft. anyway i would probably go with hypnytyz if i need an engine he sure is cheap enough. if you go thru mazda for a stock reman they cost like $2000+ . i do have a rule you always get what you pay for in the end
