a good mileage for ATF

My 'new' engine (completely brand stankin new from mazda..the previous owner had enough money for a 4100 new engine ) has around maybe 40-50k on it. I have heard numerous stories against and for the ATF treatment for about a year now, and have also heard glorious stories about how much it can make a difference in the performance of the engine.

I know the previous owner took **** care of the car becuase of the amnt of problems it has on it...not to meantion replacing the 1st motor at around 105,000 miles? Thats pretty shitty mileage if you ask me, which goes to show ignorance.

Do you think i should take the chance and put it through an ATF treatment and see if i gain anything back?

Car seems to have a LOT of varying power, it is strong one hour, weak the next, strong the next...hmm..

i changed my fuel filter maybe 3000 miles ago. My injectors suck though, i know they need to be cleaned. During cold driving, i get hesitation during acceleration around 3k, and when i feather the throttle around 3500 i also get the hesitation

Hesitation described as fast probably 100rpm fluctuations up and down in the RPM range.

Im looking into freeing up some compression. When i run it hard it tends to give more power, but i still think there is some carbon thats stuck in there that needs help loosening.

edit: BTW, there is NO 3800rpm hesitation under hard or normal accel.

you should try the water injection trick first cause you dont have any bad seals you do the water injection trick by filling up a 20 oz with water and with a vacuum tube stick it in the middle of the three vacum lines (on 86-88) and rev the car to about 4.5k and then insert tube into intake and let it suck you will either see smoke or not depending on the motor if you see smoke then that is a bad sign of misuse and abuse. IF that doesnt help then ATF wouldnt hurt but im not saying go do it but the water injection i am saying do

Marvel Mystery Oil is soo much better than ATF, more effective and it doesn't fuxor your O2 sensor or cats.

ATF is used for flooded cars (EXTREMLY FLOODED) or when trying to unlock an engine, otherwise don't use it. You should first solve the REAL problems and then work yourself around.

I would advise against doing the ATF trick just because you feel like it. Atf is used as a last ditch effort to bring an engine back from the dead, and at least in my opinion, should not be put into a good running engine. I know that some people haev claimed good results from it, but some have said that it has negatively affected the engine, and some have said that it has even blown their engine. I just dont think it is a good idea to say...."hey, lets dump some tranny fluid into my combustion chamber...." If you want to do anything to kinda clean your engine, add a quart of MMO to your oil (the oil additive MMO I think), a day or two before you change the oil. It will be dirtier than hell cuz it has cleaned and de-carboned the engine. Thats good I also would advise againt substituting MMO for ATF if you are going to go through with it. Sure the MMO wont harm the cats or 02, but Ive heard from numerous people that after using MMO they went back and did it again with ATF, cuz it worked soo much better.
