Good idea for more HP
Once you have your n/a 87...take out the Cats....take off the air pump...take out that phat *** fan and get a couple of electric fans...it sure frees up alot of power! it's great to less belts what do YOu think

yeah but make sure you buy a high cfm fan the regular parts store fans wont cut it. get a flex-o-lite or something that will fly. Remember overheat it and it's gone, so this a touchy area proseed with caution.

I dont know of any electric fan that changes with idle speeds...YOu can get a kit that has a temperature probe so the fan comes on at a certain temp.. I just like the control of the switch. I can turn off the fan to get to operating temp faster. Man, I really hate you people that dont have to deal with emissions testing.,....

switches..
The problem with electric fans is that they draw ALOT of amperage. 40 Amps or more. If you want to run a switch as a toggle, with the main 12V for the fan going directly through the switch, you need a pretty hefty switch (or one rated at 40 amps). If you run a switch thats rated lower, you are risking a fire hazard. What I did, was install a heavy duty 12V relay on the battery box, then ran a switch into the car. The switch activates the relay, which turns on the fan. Its a bit more complicated as far as the whole wiring assembly goes (I am just lucky, its what I do for a living). But it is a safer way to go.

you can buy a better alternator...one rated at 200 amps... do electric fans over not cut the mustard and are not as good as the ones powered by the V-belts?

Electric fans are fine...They actually give you less parasitic drag on the Crank. Good for a couple more horsies at the wheels and better throttle response. No need to change your alternator unless you are running tons of crap I.E. big booming stereo, extra lighting...Etc. You an also get an electric water pump. I havent messed with those so I can speak intelligently about them. Anything you can eliminate from the V-Belt system is going to improve your performance. But the gains arent going to be as signifigant as you may think...
