Good Idea or let it go

I have an s4 se I'm selling, but I am having second thoughts on keeping it. First off it is in damn nice condition and my favorite color of s4s, blue. I rarely see any s4 blue turbos and I am thinking about doing a swap.

Well the problem is, its an automatic. I've done everything in my budget and it runs a 17 in the 1/4. Well I decided to swap it to a 5 speed, but only got as far along as upgrading the rearend to 4.10 from another se. I have a driveshaft and a transmission at one time, but the internals were rusted. The clutch/flywheel setup I wanted cost $800 and the whole idea now just really turns me off.

This is the plan. I hope someone has done it, or lives in another country where they know of someone with an auto turbo

I want to do this project on a budget of $2500

On Ebay I've seen jdm engines that come with the auto transmission. I want to import one of these s4s and drop that into my ride. Swap the ecu and wiring harness. Then upgrade the fuel pump and I should be done (short of a t2 hood)

Does this sound feasable? Just dreaming or just crazy, you decide. Please don't say to just swap a manual in it. I'll leave that for someone else.

What do you guys think?

I put a bid of $2800 on this car

I probably wont get it though.

or I can trade it and $6500 for an auto FD
I'm just lost right now.

oooooo, FD....... but FC's are so much cooler...

btw, if u find the right parts from the right people, u can do it for 2500 or less on the swap, patience.... but the FC on ebay is nice too, lil pricey, but nice.

Just go on with the turbo swap, and do the 5sp swap at the same time. You have to change out the rear and trans and **** anyway for a turbo swap, the only extra work is the custom crossmember adaptor and the pedal set and clutch master. Everything else has to be changed anyway. I just did this on a customer's car.

I don't want to go through the hassle of a 5speed swap though, the wiring, the crossmember, and if I go turbo with that then I need another rearend or flywheel/clutch to go with an n/a transmission. That is too much for me. Just swapping the 4.10 in was a huge pain in the ***. It was fun, but very hard. (this is the first car I have ever worked on or even bothered to learn about)

What I've wanted to know for sometime now is if the turbo's auto trans mated with an n/a auto drive shaft.

IF you want a car you don't have to turn a wrench on, I would venture to say you have the wrong car in your driveway.

The rearend swap is the hardest part of a turbo swap for some. But if you couldn't handle that, don't even consider an engine swap.

I wasnt talking about running an NA trans with a turbo engine. Most peopel swap the whole drivetrain, front to back at the same time. So if you have EVERYTHING out of the car anyway, doing the 5sp swap at the same time (since all US turbo stuff is 5sp anyway) is not hard at all, just a few extra steps.

THE NA auto trans front yoke is the same as the t2 5sp trans front yoke, so I would assume the t2 auto front yoke is the same as both of these. So yes, in theory you could do this, but no one fools with auto turbos so we dont know for sure.
