I came across an 86 automatic trans, 13b 105k mi at the junk yard. fuel tank removed. car is smashed and has 8-03 inspection sticker, not allowed to hook battery to it, so I took plugs out to do compression test by hand and got it to turn for one poof out of each rotor once and then can't turn anymore. Is it a carbon build up, or can it be from the automatic trans. I can get engine, wiring harness, fuel pump, and radiator for $300. Is it worth it, and do you think that engine could still be good?

 

the rad probably won't be worth anything, but if the engine core is good (no water or coolant sitting in there all that time), $300 isn't bad...fuel pump might be frozen up by now too...

 

does anyone else have any suggestions?
