It's a part of the Theft Detterant Alarm. HKS Turbo II had a detailed thread on that recently...

Not on an 86. 86 models didn't have the wiring for the factory security system.

What is the actual month and year of production on the car or the VIN?

That will tell us if it really is an 86 or if it is a 87 and it is the factory alarm.

either...

The 10th digit in the VIN will be a G for a 86 and a H for an 87.

as well as the serial number will be between 100001 and 200000 for an 86 and between 500001 and 600000 for a 87.

Or production dates on the door jam, anything 5/86 and before is a 86.

Anything made 6/86 or after and before 7/87 is a 87.

My TII has a build date of 3/86 and it has an H at the 10th digit in the VIN, last 6 digits are 138822, but it's titled as an 87.

The serial numbers and build dates I mentioned; only apply to NA coupes, however if you notice your VIN does have a H in the 10th digit, so that means you have an 87 model year car.

T2s and 'verts used different serial numbers, for example my 88 'vert has 100302 as its serial number.

Yeah it's basically the factory alarm, although I don't know if it has starter kill or not. I have an aftermarket pager alarm, so I removed the factory one. Someone else should know specifications the alarm has.......
