God Damn Pd!!!!!!!!!!!!

The damn Pulsation Dampener is failing!! on my 88 SE.

Luckily I caught it tonight. It drips a droplet of gas every 2 seconds onto the manifolds.

I have to do a weekend replacemnt and need to find a write up. I couldn't use PD in the search because the limit.

Here is my main question.
I have a 88 GTU with a blown coolant seal sitting in my driveway.
Take the PD out of the GTU and put it in the running car.
The GTU had 100k on it before it went out.

I know this isn't the best method ubt I don't care if this car lasts 3 months. Once the GTU TII conversion is done I'm ditching the POS.

Someone in another thread said that the PD on the S4's screw in. Could I unscrew it off the GTU and just slap it in the SE? Will I have to take the manifolds off or you think I can skeak by without doing that(hope togod I don't have to).

And NO I don't want to do the Banjo bolt band Aid fix since it was meant to have a damn PD on it.

Please respond with info so I can do this tomorrow.

I highly suggest you take the banjo bolt from the core motor's lower fuel rail and replace yours. I don't care that you don't like the option, I think it is better than letting the car burn up with a used PD. I have run many a car with no PD with no ill effects.

IF, you still feel that mazda's fuel system design was of such a high standard ( ) that you should not alter it, here is how I would try to rig up a PD to last a little longer:

loctite the screw heavily, and reinsert. Fill the plastic cap full of rtv and replace it. Wait for the rtv to dry before starting the car.

The loctite should hold the screw in place for a while. When/if the loctite breaks down and the screw begins to back out, it won't be able to move for a little while because the rtv will buffer its movement. When the screw finally eats into the rtv and backs out, the rtv will still help keep fuel from leaking, a little bit anyway.

Yes, you can temporarily swap the two PDs. They are the same part, and they do screw and unscrew.

But IMO, this is only a temp fix, until you can get a new one within the next week or two.
