Just wondering who here has a glass sunroof/moonroof on their FC's?

I was intrested in buying a black 88 GXL, it had a yelllow (but tinted black was a REALLY ugly dark yellow) oxidized plastic one, was cracked btw. I bought an 87 turbo instead with the metal sunroof. According to the Kelly blue book, a moonroof was an option (sunroofs=solid metal and moonroofs= glass, plastic) are you sure yours isn't plastic cause that's the only other one I've seen.

Correct me, as I may be wrong, but I thought these glass sunroofs were just a dealer "option" like... the dealer took the new rx-7, scrapped the stock roof and slapped a new one on to make it look even more appealing. Did Mazda produce any 7's with authentic "stock" glass sunroofs? I didn't think they did...

The dealers had a Mazda Finsh Line brand glass roof available, that retrofited the existing steel roof with a glass panel, as well as Pacific made one for a while. It is my understanding the way to tell the two apart is that the Finish line roof did not have bolts through the top, while the pacific one did.
But glass roofs are pretty rare. It is much more common for a dealer to send the car out and have a glass pop up or slider put in on a car that didn't come with a sunroof originally.
I keep trying to get a glass one, and use it as a sample to have the tooling done to make new glass ones for our cars. But realisticly it would probably be around $300-$400 for a glass replacement.

The glass sun roof really isn't all that hawt...I had one on my RX7 and because of it, sun shined right on my shifter, etc and made it a pain to drive around in 100 degree weather...yes it was tinted.
Right until the point my stepmom backed over it and shattered it (and blammed me for leaving it there) - I told her why didnt you look jesus

I didn't do it to my GTUs the previous owner did that and the JSPEC TII stuff.

That engine blew from oil starvation last April, damn stock turbo took a big ****.
I moved in June for school. GTUs is sitting in my grandparents garage. I graduate in August, from there I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Probably rebuild and go big, I'm fed up with the stock ECU, I just want to simplify and go stand-alone.

Why about cast lexan? (too scratchy?)
(I'm a moldmaker)

I have a lexan one which I purchased from one of the forums, some dude was making them. I wrecked my car before I had a chance to install, never took it out of the box. I could not even tell you if it was broken or not, never looked ( I was so pissed off that I wrecked my car - lost interest). Tomorrow I am going to go pick up a S5 convertible and will be puttin my efforts toward that ... lexan roof will not fix. So if someone wants to buy my lexan roof, let me know ... will ck it out 1st to see that it is not broken
