Giving up on the fc
Well today my FC got hit again (two months ago my cousin hit my car putting a large dent and series of scratches in my FC) and now the door is a little fucked up. Since I work 6-7 days a week I wouldn't have the time to put it in the shop at all until winter. During that time I get to pay for school and rent. So my money is tied up. Since it'll be easier to make $150 dollar payments elsewhere, I'm probably giving my FC to my dad (since I couldn't get **** for it anyways).
So for this thread to make sense, what reasons have you ever used to sell your FC/Give it away).

I made my parents promise me that no matter what they would keep it, and put in storage, if anything. These cars really are good, once the money is there. And I know I probably will be in your position in a few years. If you truly don't give a **** about the car, give it up. But, if you really do like it, maybe you can try conning your parents into holding it or renting a storage garage, or putting forth the cash yourself. I know for my area, rates are low, like $30/mon for a unit, I'm sure if you do some searching you can find something comparable. After all, it's Minnesota, it's like Wisconsin only with more purple. At my age, and only having my FC for a month, I've already checked around, just in case the car goes TU and I need money I don't have.

don't do it man, step back, step away, and do it for a few months but then get back into it. I'm telling you. to much of anything is bad for you including rx7's. you just need a brake.

if i could get a super nice house i'd still have the FC, not like you can sell the FC for anything more than 15k anyways
Never selling mine. Once I opted for bigger turbo, standalone....**** just going all out, that was when I figured I can't sell it unless I want less than 1/2 of what I put into it. Soo...when I go to college I'm saving up and buying a $500 honda of soemthing and storing my FC in my dad's shop. Every weekend I could give her attention

SIX HOUNDRED TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS.
That's for an "average" price of a house!
By the time I get my finances all cleared up in about 3 to 4 years, there's a good possibility the MEDIAN price of a house could break $1,000,000 - ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
Sorry, I love the FC, but if it comes down to FC or house...I need the house more.
After I get the house finance settles, I might go back to owning an FC.

Damn Jager thats some bad luck. I wish you would stay with the 7s. Maybe buy a TII or somthing. I just got my motor and trans in this weekend. The trans was the usual nightmare X 2. I say X 2 cuz I did it twice. Dont ask me where my mind was today, but I put the tranny is got it all bolted up and everything. After that I looked on the workbench and saw the throwout bearing
so I had to pull it and re do it again. Damn I was pissed but after hearing your story I should just be glad thats all that happend to me.

Jmy, remember my friend Stinky? He may take a nice trade to do the bodywork for me (my old CRX with cash, for me, all dents removed, full paintjob). I'll see how that works out.

I don't get it, is the car being financed? If not, can't you stash it away somewhere, come back to it when you have the time and money? I mean, if you say you can't get squat for it anyway, is hanging onto it totally out of the question? If it is being financed, that is a big no-no in my opinion...dump it and pay off that loan. Just doesn't make sense to pay a loan on a 15+ year old car, that isn't an exotic or classic/collector car.
Anyway, to answer your question, I just got my FC, I love it and hope to have it for a long long time (until I can get "vintage" status, no emissions BS, yeah!). But I would sell it in a heart beat if I really needed to. All things said and done, a car, no matter what kind or how much you enjoy it, is just a car...you can't place it above the many more important things in life. Just keep things in perspective, cheer up, this FC leaves your life, something else will enter, many times something better. At least, that's how I try to look at things.

You don't get it.
I've probably sunk in over $20,000 because of my FC.
This includes tools and R&D into development of parts for the car.
$20k makes for a nice addition to the downpayment, and paying a $2,000 / month mortgage just doesn't allow any "hobbies" that cost more money.
The "easy" path is to get an apartment or a condo.
Apt or condo don't like you wrenching on cars in your stall.
It's going to be a pain in the *** to work on the car if something needs to be fixed.
I looked into storing the car somewhere.
Prices START at $300+ / month.
Why would I want to do that when I can apply that to the house?
I just started getting into aquariums, and that's more money I spend every week.
