ok, ill do a compression test!

due to work and school it'll be saturday before i can. i have a tester at my house, and i know how to use it.

but from the driving i did last week, it felt fine. like i said, the new problem im pretty sure is ground related, due to my previous experience with the same problem. it just happened to occur right after the overheating problem.

i have a/c in my car because the last few cars didnt have it, and as a class project we converted it to r134. here in georgia it gets pretty warm and a/c is nice on the hour drive i have to school in stop and go traffic.

YAY! I figured you were pretty busy with stuff. Keep the A/C. I don't know why the hell everyone removes A/C and emissions. A/C I guess I can understand when you remove EVERYTHING associated with it. Once we KNOW for sure it isn't compression (which I'm thinking isn't the issue now) we will be in a better position to help you. (Or at least make the attempt to help you.)

people remove ac and emissions for weight reduction and simplicity. If you have worked on a car with no emissions and no ac or ps, you know how unbelievable easy it makes everything. there are only about 6 vacuum lines necessary for a rotary to run, so theres no complicated mess of those, and its really easy to reach things like the plugs.

between ac/ps/air pump you lose close to 100 lbs. thats a big chunk of weight.

another thing is that 90% of the emissions crap is there to support the cat, and stock cats are mostly worn out by now. most people who want performance upgrade the exhaust, which renders all the emissions stuff useless, since there is not stock converter there for it to support.

i totally agree with pat, but go figure the county i live in is one of 8 in georgia that requires emissions every year. swapping the exhaust is no big deal, but all the vaccuum lines, air pump, etc. would be a pain to replace for 15 min worth of passing emisisons.

i have been considering using my parts car to pass emissions and swapping the vin plates to my turbo though, haha.

get an electric airpump, then you can just swap the exhaust and run a line to the airpump so it runs the whole time the car is on. i believe ls1 cars came with an electric one, among others.

the whole swap shouldnt take more than an hour or so for the pump, exhaust and everything, and it should make you pass emissions testing easily.

well i think the reasoning behind stupid women is they dont care... not some might fight this abit but just stop and think about what we guys like and then look at women and analyze their every move and youll realize two things they are careless(thats why they drive turn key and go cars (suv's)) and two the are very unobservant to anything that doesnt affect them directly.. oh and if they arent martha stewart or rachel ray then they are messy and cant cook. hahaha had to throw that in. but girls and women just dont understand anything about cars for one (because us guys like it , so naturally is bad and boring.)and two they dont see a car like guys see a car, women use it to get places.

sorry for bad english and grammer is found but im tired and this reminded me of my g/f....

That's a bit chauvinistic. I will say however, that I have come across more and more ladies that have a rather difficult time driving. Every so often I observe this lady that tries to park a minivan in my apartment complex. First she'll pick her parking space. Then she'll sit there for about 15 seconds looking at the space. She'll then proceed to turn into the space at a completely wrong angle. She'll have to back up and try again over and over. This continues until the car is properly parked. I'm tempted to time her. I think if I did that, I would find it takes her about 2 minutes to park her car. This may not seem like a big deal, but let's say most of us take no more than 10 seconds to park our car, then it's a really long time.

I know some women that you should meet. One has stripped down her engine bay, pulled her motor, rebuilt it with fully forged internals, port & polish, built up the head, etc, and has it setup for about 500-600whp and boost (obviously not a 13B, this is on a V8). So while your blanket statement is accurate for some you really need to meet different girls.

i gotta agree with Rexpelagi on that one.

while my girlfriend is obviously retarted when it comes to cars, there's a girl in my auto tech course that can rip a motor apart and throw it back together with the best of us. shes not on my team in the class, and it sure is funny to watch her telling the three guys on her team what they need to be doing.

One girl and nineteen guys maybe? I'm not saying girls are dumb, incompetent or incapable of working on and understanding cars, just that fewer girls want to. That's probably related to our society telling them they shouldn't, aren't supposed to, aren't capable of and it'd be weird if they did.

Guys are taught that cars are a guy thing and every man should be able to fix his car (though that's taught less nowadays, it's still prevalent in the media). Girls are taught that cars are only there to move you from your house to the mall and back and that they should avoid working on them because they're unqualified (and that is still the dominant tradition, though it shows up less in the media).

Therefore, it's not surprising at all to me when a girl shows disinterest in cars and it's still surprising when a girl shows interest.

True to some extent. Though it has been proven that males are statistically better at math/science while females are better at english/writing, based on SAT/ACT scores I believe. So it may not be so much that they are taught or conditioned to shy away from engines, they just have strengths/interests elsewhere. This is just an average of data because as I said above I know several ladies who do everything themselves.

It has been demonstrated using statistics gathered from standardized tests issued far after our society has already indoctrinated gender roles on the students. SAT testing is not a scientific study nor does it reveal gender-based fundamental differences in brains.

There are scientific studies that show fundamental differences in brain structure based on gender, but those do not prove a causal link to math/science/analytical skill vs. language/writing skills.

The gender debate is still wide open and includes studies which show there is no gender-based difference in math or language aptitude.

I'll continue to subscribe to the belief that any measurable differences are more likely caused by gender role issues than a biological difference causing an aptitude difference (since I do believe there exist differences, just that they don't appreciably influence aptitude).

Witness the elevation of a thread having humble beginnings to a thread about gender equality. One of the many reasons why RX7club.com is rad.

I think there's another lesson here. Sure, you shouldn't let anyone else drive your car. But also the loose fan shroud and motor that randomly died before all this are problems that should be dealt with. Who ever heard of this sort of thing happening in a newer car?

To continue the tangent... man, I wish I got the phone number of that asian girl who loved my car.

Then there are the women that blow the generalities right out of the water.
2 women
1 77 280Z
1 Ferrari GTO kit car body
12 cylinders in a BMW engine
6 speed trans

http://www.grassrootsmotorsports.com...errari&start=0

Stereotypes may be based on some truth but our oversensitivity exaggerates everything. Guys that are are in a raised with the same conditions as most women would probably be just as car clueless as the clueless women. I know a few haha.
My sister has admitted that maintaining ignorance on things girls aren't expected to know usually means that they... don't have to do it.
PS: make any comments about my sister and I will pray to the rotary gods for all your apex seals to break.
