Yeah, this was proven on an AFM car. I am perfectly aware of the difference between how my car ran on an AFM and how it ran on the standalone, considering I drove it for years on a stock ECU before I installed the Haltech.

I have also seen it the other way, so I am not dismissing what you are saying. I have just seen it do strange things in general, and not always according to what it SHOULD do.

 

Have you messed with your Mass Airflow sensor yet? because when i bought my 86 GXL, this was my source of problems. then again, in 88 i think the switched to a cone style MAF sensor, because it was more effiecient then the shutter type on my 86, but that could be a source of your problem.
