Getting streetported na to pass emissions , is it possible ?
I have a streetported na thats been ported by Kevin Landers aka RotaryResurrection and I want to get it to pass emissions because Ive been driving it with expired illegal tags I do have insurance on the car but I havent been able to get it tags because it needs to pass emissions...along with passing emissions I need to apply for a title (which is only half the problem).
Right now the car has the streetported engine, racing beat header, straight pipe, borla catback, and removed 5/6 ports and actuators.
Will I still be able to pass with the 5/6 ports and actuators removed, my header, and catback ?
What I will have to do is get an airpump installed and all the emissions equipment installed ( catatlytic converter split air pipe, egr valve etc).
I did break a bolt in the waterpump for where the airpump mount bolts on so I'll have to easy out that broken bolt, but aside from that everything should just be bolt on. The main problem I'll have is figuring out exactly how all the vacuum hoses are routed.
Maybe there is someone in local area who can help ?

You won't pass the visual If you have no cat or smog pump. Your best bet is to take it to some really **** poor smog shop (meaning they really need the business)and see if they just hook it up and let it pass. Who know's maybe it will. I've also read on the site something about some kind of gas/? mixture so it can pass smog. ANYBODY KNOW ABOUT THAT? Good luck

It would be nice if i could find the emissions place to just pass my car for an extra 50 bucks or even 100. I know it will cost me a good chunk of change to get all the stuff I need to get it to pass , mainly the cost of the catalytic converter and airpump.

Have you had a shop hook it up and see what your smog issue's are? I just passed my TII -- california smog test. Which I think is probably the most critical test in any state. It barely passed to my surprise It wouldn't have passed at the dealership!!!!!!

I assume yours passed with full emissions setup and at least a main cat. Mine has nothing and smells like fumes to the max when I rev it up, or so at least my girlfriend says she loves the smell of my car when she drives behind me because it smells like gas lol.

I think you just answered your own question. Put the air pump back, the emissions, and your MAIN cat. The pre-cats are more useful when the car is cold, but you want to get the car hot before you go to the test and the smog guy probably has no idea the car came stock with three. Don't forget the sleeves as well. These cars have a hard time passing smog later on in life and you might as well give it every fighting chance.
I'd also give it a full tune-up and change the gas cap.
p.s. there's a write up on this somewhere.
