Cool getting my rx7 going again...

Hey guys, I am trying to get back on my rx7 after the last 2 years...

As far as I can remember, my car needs a fuel pump, (i plan to get the OEM denso one), a fuel filter, and a battery....

Its a 1991 mazda rx7 n/a 5 spd swap....

i found some paint flaking in the groove for the rear hatch.. any idea what to do here? should i just sent it to a body shot to clean up so it dont rust, or just spray it myself with rust prohibitor paints and pray?

Anyone can recommend any stock fuel pump replacement? best price i found on the NP9500157 denso pump was about 140, does anyone know if this is the exact oem pump? (i dont plan to upgrade, i just want 100% reliability)

is there another battery in the market like the optima battery (sealed) without the 200 dollar price tag?

im probably gonna just pick up a wix filter, or napa gold...

my motor isnt seized, i oiled it prior to leaving it alone.. but i probably gotta give it a good spin prior to cranking it.... Maybe i can finally get all my parts going.. or should i just sell the car to a friend for a t2 swap.... Hm... anyone care?

Stock fuel pump would be found at any parts store for around the same price. Sand and paint the rusting area. I don't know of any other cheap sealed batteries like the Optima series. Put some oil in the spark plug holes and let her sit then it should be fine for start up. Aaron Cake has a good writeup on his site aaroncake.net about unstoring procedures.

Id say it already sounds like you know what you need to do. Just buy yourself another standard $80 battery. I've yet to see a single optima battery go through the same lifespan as 2 regular car batteries.

Well actually guys sorry to say I am leaving the RX7 for a while... I am selling it to my good friend that worked on it with me... atleast I know he will appreciate the car...

I am now moving to another Mazda... Miata.. M edition. well i am looking and deciding right now, found a few 1994 and 1996, but I really want the 1997.

I may come back one day with a seven again, I love the car more than anything else, but for now.. I think a miata can serve me a little better (vert, handling, stock class autocross racing) with the great gas milage...
