Getting into a Gen 2
Getting into a Gen 2
I do not own a RX-7 yet but I am looking to buy one. When looking to buy a car there are the obvious things to look for but I am sure that an RX-7 has a completely different set of standards that I should look at. Can some of you experienced guys break down what I need to look for in my search? I am looking for what kind of price range I need to be in, what kind of mileage I should be looking at was well as what the better years of the gen 2 were. Any additional information to that would be greatly appreciated. I am not stupid when it comes to cars but I am when it comes to RX-7's
noone ever checks out an rx7 before they buy it .. ever
but seriouslllly .. there is an FAQ about them. just be aware of the usual stuff ... an rx7 doesnt show different signs of wear then any other car

take this how u want.. I bought my 86' n/a 5spd with 65K on the clock one dent on the passenger fender NO PROBLEMS 1000.00
a turbo will go for WAY MORE if the body is good and low mileage..
remember to take it for a drive and BEAT ON IT likeu would if u owned it.. then u will know how it responds..
if u are not sure and have a bad feeling walk away. unless u like projects!

That's not an entirely true statement. There are RX-7 nuances to look for. PD and engine compression come to mind. While I understand piston motors have compression as well, we all know that a rotary with 180k and a reciprocating engine with 180k may yield very different results.
