getting a heater hose off

Exclamation getting a heater hose off

the heater hose that goes from the block to the firewall, does anyone know a good way to get it off?

a screwdriver and some WD 40, worse comes to worse cut a slit along it and peel it off and just get a new one

tried the screwdriver approach, dont think wd40 will help much, as for the slit, how do u propose cutting it?

just take a razor blade/boxcutter/knife and slit the pipe lengthwise, along the top of the heater core inlet/outlet... start away from the pipe and cut towards it... then just peel it back... if you are feeling really ghetto, the hose can normally be fit back on (by slicing off the damaged section...) but it'll be a lot more likely to rub something...

that is what I said, about the cutting that is, and a lot of times it won't fit without a new one, but then I always do the cutting off the end method so who am I to say

Get a pair of channel locks and wrap it around the hose, not too hard , dont crush the pipe.

Just twist it back and forth and itll break loose.

Best bet are hose pliers. They are like needle nose pliers that have a opening at the end that's curved. You can put it around a hose, squeeze it tight, and twist the pliers back and forth to break the hose free. They're REALLY handy.

BTW, be careful with the pipe coming out of the firewall - it's soft copper. If you end up deforming it a bit, make sure to bend it back into shape before re-assembly to insure a leak-free fit.

DO NOT PULL, TWIST, or YANK on that hose!!! you will break the heater hose pipe, they are so weak. cut it off. cut 2 or so cuts from the end alone the pipe past where the metal ends. then replace it with a new one. they always blow anyways. they should be replaced often.

if you damage the heater hose pipe. you have to remove the whole dash to replace. a few days of fun...
