Getting an engine to turn over...

Pulled an 87 GXL off a guys lot where it had been sitting for a while. $200. Some body damage, was able to start it and drive home from my mechanics.

Compression check on the engine: 95 on both rotors, all faces even pulses.
Spark plugs were fouled to hell: Replaced with new.

Issue...cannot get the engine to fire. When attempting to start the engine, it turns and turns and turns, it sounds great, but WILL NOT start.

Suggestions for next round of items to check for? I know 95psi you want to generally start saving for a rebuild in a year or 2 probably but the car drove/pulled strong when I drove it home but after it sat for a week...no go. =(

Thank you for your suggestions!

did you hook the spark plug wires up correctly.

double check that and deflood the motor and come back with the results of that.

Should have mentioned that I have deflooded the engine. I usually only like S5's but my first 7 with an S4 like this one so I've played the "pull the fuse" game before...and have done it several times with this one to no avail.

Ok...well hooked another car up to it because the battery seemed to be getting low and it has now started a 1/2 dozen times in a row no issue. (fingers crossed).

Thank you!

Deflood on a series five is supposed to be: gas pedal to the floor and hold it there. That act cuts the fuel injectors off but keeps the spark. It's in the manual somewhere. S5 only.

Get a new battery and make sure your alternator puts out at least 14vdc AT the large output terminal of the alternator.
