The way I understood it is that it's impossible to chip these cars because of the way the ECU works. I think you may have just gone for a ride.

The 20 dollar chip on eBay is a fake knockoff that doesn't work. If its a genuie KSP ecu it might be useful. But those 20 dollar chips on eBay are junk.

the chips on ebay are just copys. with the right stuff it's easy to do.

kinda like taking your friends $20 cd and burning a copy for 50 cents. still works. but you are stealing it from the first maker.

and yes viper. you can chip the ecu's....

I have no idea what the ebay ones are even copied off of though or if they work. most of the adds say "87-91 rx7" or something which is wrong since the ecu's are totaly different.

it's been upgraded. you can tell because the chip with the sticker on it is in a socket instead of soldered onto the board. also the stock chips don't have stickers.

but by reading the text I have no idea what brand the chip is or what is on it.

I replaced mine like 1-2 years ago.

I've got a genuine knightsports ECU, had it installed in my previous turboII, worked great, noticbly smoother and a bit more power.

Shows a chipped series-4 (86-88) ECU board.

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the series-5 (89-91) ECU quite different & thus incompatible

Its not a real Knight Sports ECU, at best its a copy of one (illegal) and at worst its who knows. Who knows what has been modded in that chip and whether your use of it will be "safe" for your engine.

These pics are very likely of a real KS ECU.

That guy advertizing on ebay is clueless. The add covers 88-91 which spans both S4 and S5 years but the guts of the ECU's are totally different.

Post KS's response - it should be interesting.
