Gen II 13B Questions from New Guy
I tried this on the general forum and got no response but since have figured out I have a 1986 13b normally aspirated so maybe this is the place to get some answers?
I have just bought a 1959 AH Bugeye with a 1986 13B and tranny. The PO junked the fuel injection and went with a Racing Beat Holley intake and carb. I would now like to go back to injection. The car has a custom fabricated RB header as well and free flowing 2" exhaust. Q's are:
What all will I need?
What should / shouldn't I get from a donor car?
I assume that in additon to intake, injectors, fuel rails, harness, ECU, etc. I will also need to go back to a hi pressure / hi flow fuel pump?
What CC flow injectors should I use?
Stock or aftermarket ECU?
Will I need sensors in the exhaust stream?
Can I go to turbo later if I decide I want to die (already ~175 hp in 1100 lbs.)?
Anyone have the parts / pieces for sale and anyone interested in the RB Holley setup?
Thanks for looking and hopefully responding.

It will depend on how the injector holes were plugged on the center plate. If it is something simple it should be no problem to go back to injection. Most everything you'll need is on the intake manifold assembly. The other parts are the two injectors that go in the center plate and their fuel rail/hold down thingy.
That gets you four injectors, TB, fuel rails and manifolds. Stock injectors are good for about 250HP.
As for computer, go with a Megasquirt, cheap and flexible for that later turbo set-up.
Drill a hole for a O2 sensor for the ECU, and a different throttle position sensor and use the stock temp sensors and you should be good.
For a fuel pump I'd use one for a Ford truck, simple to mount(external), fuel in one end out the other. Flows about 45GPH at 100 psi so 35-45psi is no problem. And they are cheap, less than $80 if I recall. Megasquirt can handle the rest of the relay wiring issues for the pump. As small as the Bugeye gas tank is I don't think I'd worry about a surge tank.
I built a '59 for a friend with an injected 1275, Midget discs, 5sp tranny. That car has got to be a blast with a rotary in it!

Bugeye 13B
jcrewe,
Thanks for the reply. Maybe ignorant lump guys aren't so welcome here?
I was looking at some of the FAQ's and can't see why I wouldn't go for an 88-89 intake setup as I'm starting from scratch anyway?
BTW, the tank is already a fuel cell but at only 12 gal. I think surge is okay. easy to get to the pump / regulator to swap out so that wil work. I'll keep you posted on progress!
